I have previously written how your LMS should be a strategic enabler in your business and not merely a compliance checklist. One of the ways your LMS can become strategic in your business is by using it as a powerful sales tool. I am going to explain 8 ways your LMS can boost sales by improving how you engage with prospects and differentiate you from your competitors.

  1. Your LMS is the perfect tool to educate prospects and customers about your business, its products and services. You can include tutorials, webinars and how-to guides. Prospects are going to be more engaged with you earlier in the sales cycle and customers will see you providing value on an ongoing basis and this will build loyalty.
  2. Generate leads by offering access to free courses in exchange for contact information. The leads you gain using this method will be ‘warmer’ and more likely to engage with you in your sales cycle. Be creative when you consider what kind of course(s) you can offer as a lead magnet. Your course(s) may not be directly about your products and services, it could be something of interest that is related to what you offer but not directly a part of our business or its offering.
  3. Create product and service demos and deliver them using your LMS. There are several advantages of doing this. Among these are consistency of experience, self -paced, and less confronting than a ‘live’ sale pitch.
  4. When you add a new customer, provide them a comprehensive onboarding and training experience that builds satisfaction and loyalty. A smoot professional onboarding experience can reduce customer churn.
  5. This one seems obvious, but it surprises me how many businesses do not use their LMS to train their sales team. Your LMS is perfect equip your sales team with product knowledge, best practices, sales processes and customer service training. You can tap into knowledge already in your business as well as source other material and include this on your LMS.
  6. Create case studies and testimonials and add them to your LMS. Case studies and testimonials are a powerful tool to convert sales and go a long way to build trust. Case studies are also great for internal employee onboarding as well.
  7. Educate your existing customer about other products and services that you offer. You can make this individualised or general. You can dramatically increase the lifetime value of each customer by using your LMS to educate your customers.
  8. Your LMS should have analytics that can provide valuable insights into your prospect and customer behaviours. You can gain insight into when people access your LMS, what they view when they are logged in, feedback on your content and the topics that generate the most interest. This data is valuable in helping you craft your messaging and tailor your sales strategy to improve results.
